Get your tickets now for Rural Rumble 14: Fallon Fights, set for Friday, Aug. 8 at 6 p.m. ESPN’s celebrated “Friday Night Fights” is airing the fight card live from the Fairgrounds where six-foot-six-inch Chinese heavyweight and Olympic Silver-medalist Zhang Zhilei makes his professional debut. Zhilei is a member of Dynasty Boxing, founded by Dino Duva and locals Terry and Tommy Lane, sons of Mills Lane. The fights are announced by the famed voices of ESPN boxing’s Teddy Atlas and Todd Grisham.
For the Lane brothers, the debut of Zhilei is a long-awaited opportunity to take the next step as promoters. The two previously found success with “Let’s Get It On” Promotions after years of watching their father officiate major championship fights across the country.
Zhilei is a 240-pound southpaw who captured the Olympic Silver Medal in Beijing in 2008 and competed again in London in 2012. He began his boxing career in 2003, participating in the World Championships and shortly after, the World University Boxing Championship. A handful of Championship showings and two trips to the Olympics later, Zhilei is now prepared for a debut in the world of professional boxing thanks in part to advisement from Dynasty Ambassador Evander Holyfield.
Zhilei is the first fighter to be promoted by Dynasty and its heavyweight trainer Duva, son of Hall of Fame trainer/manager Lou Duva, who has specialized in promoting heavyweight boxers including Holyfield, Lennox Lewis, Michael Moorer, George Foreman, Samuel Peter and Riddick Bowe at various junctures.
The Fallon Fights take place Friday, Aug. 8 with the first fight at 6 p.m. Gates open at 5 p.m. Advance general admission adult tickets start at $12, $7 for kids, and $10 for military and seniors.
